The book, ”Mark Twain’s 88 Days in the Mother Lode & Stories of the Gold Rush”, provides a continuing awareness of the very special history and legacy of Mark Twain, his time in the West, and those important and life-changing 88 days he spent on Jackass Hill in the company of men he admired and respected—Jim Gillis, Dick Stoker, and Billy Gillis.

Author and presenter, Jim Fletcher, a retired history teacher living in the Mother Lode, began discussing the legacy and history of Mark Twain. There were few places for a visitor to go, to hear the story of Mark Twain’s journey to the Mother Lode and Jackass Hill, and how that experience influenced his life and literary legacy.  The story had to be told!
